How much does Synthesia cost in 2026?
Synthesia lists Basic at $0, Starter at $29 per month, Pro at $89 per month, and Enterprise at a custom price. Since 1 October 2026, every plan includes 10 minutes of video, 3 survey responses, 500 monthly credits and a one-time 60-minute Interactive Avatar allowance. Paid plans add extra monthly credits on top. Synthesia renamed Creator to Pro and kept the prices unchanged.

Why credits matter more than the sticker price
What do Synthesia credits buy?
Credits, not minutes, are the real capacity limit on a Synthesia plan. Approximate consumption, per Synthesia's help center:

Synthesia's help center previously described video as 2 credits per second, which is 120 credits per minute. Use 100 to 120 credits per minute for planning.

Is "10 minutes included" the same on every plan? Yes, and that is why it does not tell you which plan to buy. Basic, Starter and Pro all list 10 minutes. What differs is the credit pool, which ranges from 500 to 48,500 a month. A plan's headline minutes say little about how much you can produce.

Formula: monthly price ÷ total monthly credits, then × credits per minute. Annual plan figures are monthly equivalents: annual plans receive the year's credits upfront. The pricing page lists 15,000 extra annual Starter credits and 72,000 extra Pro credits; including the 6,000 base credits gives 21,000 and 78,000 in the help center.
The per-minute figures are the credit cost of a finished video minute, not a full cost per minute. The same credits also pay for dubbing, surveys and other features, and a minute that needs re-rendering uses credits again.
Do the Pro tiers scale linearly?
Almost exactly. Pro 2×, 4×, 6× and 8× multiply the 6,000 extra credits, and the 500 base credits stay fixed:

Larger tiers do give a better rate on the extra credits (Pro 8×: $676 ÷ 48,000 = $0.0141, against $0.0148 on Pro), but because the 500 base credits are a smaller share of a bigger pool, the cost per total credit is slightly higher on every multiplier tier than on plain Pro. There is no large volume discount to wait for: if one Pro plan covers your usage, buying more capacity costs about the same per credit.
Credit rules
- Credits do not roll over to the next month.
- Upgrading a plan resets the credit balance.
- Extra credits can be bought as top-ups when a pool runs out; the price is shown in your account at purchase time.
- Synthesia can change plan allowances, so teams with high volume should confirm the current credit allocation before budgeting.
What changed on 1 October 2026
- Creator is now Pro, at the same $89 a month.
- Pro monthly credits rose from 3,600 to 6,500 at the same price. Cost per credit fell from about $0.0247 to $0.0137, a 45% drop.
- Starter credits rose from 1,200 to 1,750 at the same $29.
- Basic credits fell from 1,200 to 500, with 10 minutes of video and 3 survey responses now listed as part of the plan.
- Pro 2×, 4×, 6× and 8× are new.
- Existing subscribers move automatically: credits are kept, the billing date is unchanged, and annual plans receive the extra monthly credits immediately.
The capacity and cost figures below model the credit pool only. The headline 10 included minutes are not added to these estimates; video, dubbing and other credit-funded uses share the same balance.
Synthesia's earlier published limits of up to 12 minutes of video on Starter and up to 30 minutes on Creator, and separate dubbing allowances of 48 and 140 minutes, no longer apply. Dubbing now draws on the shared credit pool.

Who Synthesia fits
Synthesia is built for scripted, repeatable presenter content: training modules, product explainers and internal communications where a consistent avatar reads a fixed script in multiple languages. It is not designed for spontaneous or reactive content formats.

Is Synthesia free?

Does Synthesia have a separate dubbing allowance?
No longer. Since 1 October 2026, dubbing uses the same credit pool as video: about 80 credits per minute with lip-sync and about 40 without. The 6,500 credits on Pro cover roughly 81 minutes of lip-synced dubbing or 162 minutes without lip-sync, if nothing else is used.
How much does a minute of Synthesia video cost?
At about 100 credits per minute, a minute of finished video costs roughly $1.37 of credit on monthly Pro and $0.98 on annual Pro, if the whole pool goes to video. At 120 credits per minute the figures are $1.64 and $1.18.
What happened to Creator?
It was renamed Pro on 1 October 2026 at the same price, with more credits.
Can Synthesia replace a full video production budget?
Only for the presenter-avatar portion. B-roll, music licensing and complex editing still need to be budgeted separately.
