AI voiceover and podcast cost: minutes, characters and quotas
Voice tools may advertise minutes, characters or credits, but your production plan starts with a script. The safest budget distinguishes final narration length, regenerated passages and the quota actually left in your account.

The podcast preset starts with four 30-minute episodes, or 120 finished minutes. Using 900 characters per minute and a 1.25 attempt factor gives 135,000 planned characters. This is a workload estimate rather than a provider promise about speaking speed.
When your scripts are complete, compare their real character counts with that estimate. Long pauses, interviews, music and a slower delivery can all change the relationship between an episode’s length and its generated speech. Do not pay for 30 minutes of narration if much of the episode is your own recorded audio.
Budget for corrections without regenerating everything
Separate the script into manageable passages and approve pronunciation early. Rewriting an introduction after generating the whole episode can create unnecessary work. Keep accepted passages and regenerate only the parts that need changing where your production tool allows it.
The attempt factor represents this additional demand. A first-time format with unfamiliar names may need a different allowance from an established narration workflow. Audio editing, mastering, music and podcast hosting are not included in the generation estimate.
Use the remaining quota, not the plan headline
An existing monthly plan is already paid, but its full advertised quota may no longer be available. Enter the remaining credits allocated to this project. The calculator does not count them twice or assume that an exhausted plan refills immediately.
Direct ElevenLabs estimates here use Multilingual v2 at one character per credit, without premium voice multipliers or overage billing. Runway’s voice route is a separate API balance and uses its own character block rounding. A consumer subscription at one service does not transfer to the other route.
Check voice rights before ranking by price
If the project needs verified commercial usage, enable that requirement before considering the cheapest result. A free option that fails it is not a valid bargain. The catalog distinguishes the available license evidence from the rights you hold in your script and chosen voice.
This estimate does not include voice cloning, consent collection, interview recording or guaranteed speaker identity. For a podcast with several speakers, plan each voice and its rights deliberately. Use the budget comparison as one input to the production decision, not as proof that a voice is cleared for every use.

Why can the preset exceed a subscription’s quota?
Finished minutes are converted to characters and an attempt allowance. The resulting demand can exceed the remaining or included credits even when the headline duration seems affordable.
Can I reuse my paid voice subscription?
Yes. Select the active plan and enter the actual credits remaining for this project. Only that amount is treated as prepaid.
Does the podcast preset include cover artwork?
It includes one final image per episode by default. Set images per output to zero if you already have reusable artwork.
