ElevenLabs Pricing 2026: App Credits vs API Cost Per Minute

ElevenLabs sells both a creator-facing voice app and developer APIs. They share a brand, but their meters are not interchangeable: app plans include credits and studio features, while ElevenAPI publishes model-specific usage rates. First decide whether you need the app workflow or programmatic speech generation.

Conversational agents use a separate per-minute model; see ElevenLabs Voice Agent production costs for included minutes, concurrency, and overages.

As checked September 26, 2026, the pricing page lists Free, Starter at $6/month, Creator at $22/month (first month shown at $11), Pro at $99/month, Scale at $299/month and Business at $990/month. The page displays included-character capacities by plan and model; taxes are extra and promotions can change the first invoice. (ElevenLabs pricing)

Current API rates

The ElevenAPI rate card lists TTS at $0.10 per 1,000 characters for Eleven v3 and Multilingual v2, and $0.05 per 1,000 characters for Flash/Turbo and v3 Conversational. Scribe v2 speech-to-text is listed at $0.22 per audio hour and Scribe v2 Realtime at $0.39/hour. Dubbing, music and voice processing have separate meters. Prices exclude taxes. (ElevenAPI pricing)

The pricing page offers PAYG without a recurring commitment, alongside API subscriptions with included capacity. If you choose a plan, verify the allowance and billing behavior in your account. Do not add an imagined subscription fee to a PAYG rate unless your account is charged both. (ElevenAPI pricing; billing documentation)

Convert characters into minutes

Audio duration depends on script and delivery. For a transparent illustration, assume 750 billable characters per finished minute. This is an editable planning assumption, not an ElevenLabs conversion rule; measure a sample from your own scripts.

TTS optionPublished API rateAt 750 characters/minuteExample for 60 finished minutes
Eleven v3$0.10 / 1,000 characters$0.075/minute$4.50
Multilingual v2$0.10 / 1,000 characters$0.075/minute$4.50
Flash/Turbo$0.05 / 1,000 characters$0.0375/minute$2.25
v3 Conversational$0.05 / 1,000 characters$0.0375/minute$2.25

Arithmetic: 60 minutes × 750 characters = 45,000 characters. At $0.10 per 1,000, 45 × $0.10 = $4.50. This excludes retakes, voice design, editing and features billed under another meter. Verify the chosen model's current rate before running a batch.

What an app plan buys

The app is not just an expensive way to call the API. It bundles a monthly credit allowance and web-based voice tools. The pricing page estimates roughly 10 minutes on Free, 30 on Starter, 121 on Creator and 600 on Pro for the configuration displayed. Those are illustrative plan-page estimates, not guaranteed accepted runtime for every voice, script, retake or product. (ElevenLabs pricing)

Dividing the monthly subscription price by that displayed capacity gives around $0.20 per listed minute for Starter ($6 ÷ 30) and $0.18 for Creator ($22 ÷ 121). This is a rough fee-to-capacity comparison only; included credits can be used across products and the capacity depends on the selected configuration.

The app subscription fits when…API PAYG fits when…
You use the browser studio and bundled voice toolsYour product needs automated requests billed by usage
The monthly allowance matches measured productionYou want no recurring API commitment and can monitor spend
Iteration and human review are part of the workflowYour team can handle voice selection, retries, error handling and delivery

Measure cost per accepted track

Test the same script, voice, language and quality target. Record characters submitted, duration, retakes, editing time and the audio you keep. Then calculate:

Effective cost per accepted minute = (plan fee or API usage + top-ups + production labor) ÷ accepted minutes.

This makes the comparison useful: a lower per-character rate can cost more if it needs substantially more retries, while a subscription can be worthwhile if its tools save real production time.

DIRECT ANSWER

Bottom line

The app is a fixed monthly commitment with a plan-specific allowance. ElevenAPI PAYG can be priced at $0.05 or $0.10 per 1,000 TTS characters, depending on model. At 750 characters per minute, that is approximately 3.75 cents or 7.5 cents in API generation per minute before retries and production work. Replace the assumption with your own sample before using the number as a budget.

Common questions

Is API usage included in an app subscription? Do not assume so; check the API plan and app plan separately.

Does one character always equal one credit? Usage depends on product and model. Follow the current plan and billing documentation.

Is v3 always twice the cost of Flash? The listed API rates are $0.10 versus $0.05 per 1,000 characters. This is not a quality-equivalence claim.

Are prices tax-inclusive? No. ElevenLabs says taxes, levies and duties are excluded.
