AI YouTube video cost: plan a long-form budget
Long-form video multiplies small per-second charges. For a YouTube channel, the useful question is how much generated B-roll the story needs, not how much it costs to generate every frame of a ten-minute upload.

The example below starts with four ten-minute videos per month. That is 40 finished minutes. At a 25% AI video share, ten minutes of the finished material must be generated before allowing for unsuccessful attempts. The rest of the timeline needs your footage, screen recordings, diagrams or other assets you can use.
Keep the episode structure consistent enough to forecast. A research-led explainer may need a short visual for each key concept; a software tutorial may rely mostly on screen capture. Giving both the same AI percentage obscures the main cost driver.
Build the narration and shot list before generating
Draft the script, check its factual claims and record a rough narration. Then create a shot list against the actual timing. Generating clips before the structure is settled often produces attractive footage that cannot be used in the final edit.
A thumbnail is a separate image requirement. This preset includes one final thumbnail per video with an attempt allowance. Variations, text layout and manual retouching may require more work than the initial image generation. Increase images per output if you plan to compare several alternatives.
Why voice subscriptions can reach their limit first
The voice estimate uses 900 characters per finished minute, multiplied by the attempt factor. Four ten-minute episodes at 1.25 attempts therefore request 45,000 characters. Your real script length is a better input when it is available; language and speaking pace can differ.
The calculator only spends the remaining quota you enter for an existing subscription. If the quota is insufficient, it can consider a larger plan at its full monthly fee. It does not assume a free refill, a refund or a prorated upgrade. Check your account before changing plans.
Reduce cost without losing the explanation
Reserve generated B-roll for scenes that communicate something your available material cannot. Replace decorative shots with useful screen recordings or a clear edit when appropriate. The quality of the explanation depends on the story and evidence, not the share of generated pixels.
Budget Rescue can lower the generated share, but it does not shorten the videos or reduce the number of uploads. Review whether you can actually supply the replacement material. Research, scripting, audio cleanup, editing and publishing remain production work outside the software total.
